Two of us, @shikharkamat & I set out to make our first Ganesh idol, about eight years ago. He came down from Pune for the weekend especially to do that. @write2sonal pitched in remotely as she had stayed back in Holland after our holiday, as she was the only one amongst us who had experience with clay as a medium. We kept it simple. A triangle for the seated posture. A circle for the stomach, a ‘y’ shape for the head and trunk, and two semi circles for the years- all in 3d. Once we had the basic structure in place we added the hands. There was only one hitch- we were using recycled clay which (we now know) was of softer consistency and hence our idol did not dry till the day of the festival.
