the second Ganesha, completed.

Shikhar came home, for just about 30 hours, painted his Ganesha and spent some good time with us. Then on the next day, the Visarjan day, the lord went back to his abode, and Shikhar back to his college at Pune!

the way she looked at him

I saw this headless mannequin in the balcony as we were passing by and thought it could've been the way she looked at him, that he just 'lost his head'

in the same frame

There is a saying on the coast ' devak kalji' which means,'(don't worry)the lord is watching your back' - after I took a picture of this sign on the back of an autorickshaw, I noticed that the Ganesha idol in the dashboard of the car was also in the frame, almost as if it proved the point!

unlikely title for cookery book!

the way these cookery books were stacked and clipped made for a rather unlikely title for a cookery book - what in marathi should have read 'bahuguni masale' now meant something quiet to the contrary when the first few alphabets/punctuations were covered by the magazine below

caught the attention of sagar when we were passing by

packaging censored on mumbai shelves

noticed cans of tango, known for its sharp and quirky communication on the racks at a suburban mall. i was amused to see single words on the cans individually censored!

light beneath my wings

as we passed behind some clouds, the sun lit up the under carriage of the aircraft making for a rare picture

mumbai from 7000 ft and climbing

here's how a part of mumbai looks like when you're taking off from the airport, and at the point where the aircraft turns right, climbing further

buildings and more buildings till the eye can see

peacock on the next terrace

here in ahmedabad (where i'm down for the long weekend) peacocks (and parrots, mynahs, langurs, camels etc) are very commonplace

our wake up call at dawn are the calls of this peacock who frequents the next terrace, you get up and look out of the window and the sight of this peacock in full plumage greets you. what a way to start the day

back in mumbai, there was this picture and story on page 3 on how everyone was excited when a peahen was sighted on the TOI roof- a rare occurence.

just one of the small pleasures of life you trade off for the big city experience (?!). go figure
